The world of Jesus and the Early Church was full of inscriptions. In this course students with background in New Testament Greek will get the opportunity to learn the basic principles of epigraphy and to translate facsimiles of some of the thousands of Greek inscriptions (from between c.100-700AD) that litter the Mediterranean world - everything from epigrams to mosaic, funerary, dedicatory (building), and church inscriptions. The idea of the course is to encourage students to utilise their Greek knowledge to better appreciate the impact of Christianity on the world of Late Antiquity.

The inscriptions course takes place on a weekly basis or over four weekends during a calendar year.
